A traditional hummus is made using chickpeas but here is a version which is much richer in protein because of the use of hemp hearts or hemp shelled seeds. It makes for a great dip with chips, lavash crisps, pita bread, or can be used as a spread too.

  • 400gm¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† chickpeas (cooked,¬†drained and rinsed)¬†
  • 2tbsp¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† hemp hearts¬†
  • 2tbsp¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† fresh lemon juice¬†
  • 1/4 tsp¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† cumin¬†
  • 1/2 tsp¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† sea salt¬†
  • 2¬†tbsp¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† hemp seed oil¬†
  • 1 tsp¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† garlic¬†
  • ¬†2¬†tbsp¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† water¬†

Blend all ingredients together in a food processor or blender until smooth. Drizzle some more hemp seed oil on top.
